The 75 lb and 90 lb teams represented the City of West Park very well as they left it all on the field when they played in the Orange Bowl Youth Football Championships on Sunday, December 11, 2011. The games were played at FIU Stadium and our children did not to disappoint their adoring fans as they completely wiped out the competition. The 75 lb team defeated the Opa-Locka Hurricanes by a score of 26-6 and the 90lb team defeated the Pahokee Buccaneers by a score of 25 -0.
As a special treat, the 75 lb team was invited to play in the First Annual State Championship Tournament hosted at the Miramar Sports Complex on Saturday, December 17, where once again they came out victorious and earned the crown of State Champions for their pound. This set of games concluded what was a wonderful season for all of the players and coaches in what was the first year that our program has played under the name West Park Hurricanes.
The amazing results were made possible by the hard work and sacrifices of all the children, parents and coaches of the program. The results were certainly worth all of the hard work of the entire team.
