Congratulations to the City of West Park’s Super Pee Wee Football Team

picThe City of West Park Saints Super Pee Wee Football Team comprised of 4 and 5 year old children finished their season on Sunday, October 6 at Claude Pepper Park in North Miami. The team participated in the Miami-Dade Broward Super Pee-Wee League, which is a non-profit organization comprised of over 500 youth, and 24 individual associations, serving 4 & 5 year old tackle football players in the Miami Dade and Broward County Areas. The league is an intra-mural, developmental, first stage, non-competitive league which encourages fun and teaches the fundamentals of tackle football. It focuses on the beginner’s stage of youth football and no score is kept, so there are NO winners or losers.

The 7th Annual Fun Day Jamboree was a tackle football and cheerleading jamboree for players and cheerleaders ages 4 and 5 years old. Twenty-four (24) teams competed in the jamboree with each team playing two games. This year’s event was in honor of Samuel K. Johnson, longtime Founder and Director of the Super Peewee division who passed away unexpectedly this year. Sam was an icon and mentor to the children who passed through the successful program he ran. Coach Sam was a friend and strong supporter of Miami Dade/Broward Super Peewee League and offered the league valuable advice which helped it grow to where it is today. As part of the event, they also hosted a cheer showcase; they played music, offered games, food and fun for the entire audience to enjoy. This year’s culminating jamboree event was set up in an exhibition tournament style where each participating team played several games and which ends they took team pictures, received individual trophies, and took home a team trophy.

We would like to thank our Super Pee-Wee Team comprised of 12 players (Cameron Fermine, Jeremiah Haggins, Dwayne Hayes, Pernell Hayes, Jalen Jackson, Jaden Johnson, Jah’Cari Jones, Jeremiah Ovalles, Javaris Rolle, Sean Saintil, Corey Scott, & Bobby Stokes) and coaches Rosner Saintil & Bobby Stokes. The season was a great success with the children learning the fundamentals of tackle football and was full of many highlights and long-lasting memories. Next year some of these players will move up to our Junior Bandit Division and some will play at this division again next season. Thanks to all the parents and players for making this season as special as it was and we look fowarto bigger and better things from our young football players on the gridiron next year.
