Cable customers in Sunny Isles Beach have been able to view City information on an Atlantic Broadband Cable Channel since the City’s Television station began in early 2002. Currently City programming can be seen around the clock on Atlantic Broadband Cable Channel 77. Features include live and delayed broadcasts of City Commission Meetings, recordings of performances and special events, along with running information pages advertising details about city programs, classes and cultural event trips
Commercial free programming varies, with listings of programs, cultural events and special events changing for each season. Information pages about bus schedules, the Visitor Center and classes scroll on the screen in between the video offerings. Video-taped performances and meetings may run for several weeks after placed in the programming sequence. Special video presentations, such as hurricane preparedness (June to November), may run over a period of months, three times each day.
Some of the programming which may interest your family can include: the History of Sunny Isles Beach airing at 2:00 pm Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and again at 8:00 pm Fridays and Sundays, videos about beach safety and traffic safety are shown twice daily at 9:00 am and 9:00 pm all year round in an effort to keep tourists informed, and if you can’t make it to our Mt. Sinai Medical Center Lectures, the lecture can be viewed Sundays at 2:00 pm. Each lecture is repeated for four Sundays. Additionally, Community Spotlight videos of our events show at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm daily for several weeks after production of each event recap is complete. Perhaps you will see yourself at the Egg Scramble or Booogie on the Beach.
While commission meetings are on the television within 48 hours and show Saturday at 5:00 pm and Monday at 7:00 pm, some programming mentioned above may take some time to be edited and ready for viewing. For those viewers who are interested in a particular performance or event, an email alert service is available. An email will be sent to let them know that new programming has been placed on Channel 77. For instance, residents have recently been notified that the Four Seasons FIU Opera from December, 2013 will be shown Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. until Saturday, March 1st.
