Join your neighbors and city officials for the ribbon cutting celebration to open the completely renovated Newport Fishing Pier. It is sure to be a fun time, beginning with a “SNIP” of the scissors and ending with a BANG as fireworks are displayed at the end of the pier! This is a free event with activities for the kids and music. The free Community Shuttle Special Event Bus will bring residents to and from the park throughout the event. The City’s Annual Anniversary celebration will take place this year at Town Center Park (17200 Collins Avenue) due to construction at the Samson Oceanfront Park. Don’t forget to invite Dad for this citywide Fathers Day Celebration. To enjoy the BBQ for free, make sure you have your SIB Resident ID Card. All others will be charged $5.00. If you haven’t registered for your free SIB Resident ID card yet, stop by Pelican Park or the Visitor Center at City Hall with a photo ID and utility bill to obtain one for yourself and family members. The Ziff Ballet Opera House will be transformed into an “exhilarating, gravity defying world” (Ottawa Citizen) by more than a dozen aerialists, dancers and musicians who perform entire routines in the air.
