Sunny Isles Beach Summer Camp 2013 started off with a bang! The Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior groups have traveled throughout Miami- Dade, Broward, and even Palm Beach County on exciting, memorable field trips. Some of the trips include local visits to Miami Shores Aquatics, Venetian Pool, and even the Davie Pro Rodeo. The older groups have also experienced Xtreme Kart Racing, Paintball, and Rapids Water Park. The campers have participated in costume designs and parades as well as creating personal art using food for different holidays. Each Monday, the Juniors and Seniors have the ability to experience our very own Sunny Isles Beach where they play in the surf and sand as well as put their skills to the test with teambuilding activities designed by the counselors.
Although this may sound like a lot, half of the summer still remains with amazing new field trips, challenges, and events awaiting the campers. For many, it is an eye opening experience that allows some to conquer new challenges, meet new friends, and have experiences that will last a lifetime.
Another exciting aspect of the Sunny Isles Summer Camp program is a group of campers we like to call, Camp Tot- Lot. At ages three & four, they are the future of this great city. This fun-filled camp offers children the ability to meet and interact with new friends. Each day they have a new, exciting activity, whether it is Kidokinetics, which teaches coordination and self-confidence; Creative Music and Movement, which explores various musical instruments; and Yoga that is geared towards children and teaches gentle stretching and breathing methods.
The remainder of the summer promises to be just as wonderful as the beginning. For the first time ever the camp will be hosting its very own prom on August 5th. The prom will be held during the regular day at camp and will allow for the children to dress up and have a great time together as we close out camp. Leading up to this special event the campers will be designing décor that will be put up around the gym. This promises to be an amazing event.
In addition, the Annual Summer Camp Talent Showcase will be presented on Thursday, August 8th at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria, $5 for adults, children are free. This show will feature all of the General Camp groups and the Specialty Camps as the campers demonstrate some new talents they learned over the summer as well some existing talents they have chosen to share with all of you.You might be interested in these stories:
