If you are searching for a primary care physician who is fluent in Russian and has a special focus on fatigue, weight management and natural therapies/supplements, then look no further than Dr. Joshua Gizersky. A new resident of Sunny Isles Beach, Dr. Gizersky recently joined the medical staff at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Board certified in internal medicine, he sees patients at Mount Sinai Aventura and will also head Mount Sinai’s new satellite office in Sunny Isles Beach when it opens next fall.
Born in Odessa, Ukraine, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Gizersky earned his medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York He went on to complete a unique fellowship in the field of anti-aging, regenerative and functional medicine, which combines the use of bioidentical hormones with supplements to restore wellness and promote longevity and healthy metabolic function. Before relocating to Florida, Dr. Gizersky was a clinical faculty physician at Maimonides Medical Center.
He and his wife, Yanina Gurman, an early childhood and special education teacher who is also from Odessa, credit the warm weather and beautiful beaches as the reason they were drawn to Sunny Isles Beach. They have owned a residence here for eight years, but moved down from New York with their two children in August.
“We really like the community feel and its proximity to Miami,” Dr. Gizersky explained. “After the school opened and Mount Sinai approached me with the opportunity to anchor the hospital’s Sunny Isles Beach satellite office, I jumped at the chance to move here permanently.”
As a primary care physician, Dr. Gizersky specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of health conditions in adults. He also draws upon his holistic training to develop customized wellness plans to help his patients achieve their health and lifestyle goals, often addressing commonly overlooked but bothersome problems such as chronic fatigue, insomnia, weight issues, sexual dysfunction and more. In addition, Dr. Gizersky has the benefit of collaborating with colleagues in a variety of medical specialties when their expertise is needed. He also is very conscientious about making himself readily accessible to his patients.
“It’s important that my patients are able to reach me when they need me the most,” he said. “All my patients have my cell phone number, and my offices are right here in the community. Living where I work allows me to feel like I’m contributing to my community, and it connects me with the residents of Sunny Isles Beach.”
Dr. Gizersky sees patients by appointment at Mount Sinai Aventura, located at 2845 Aventura Boulevard, across the street from the Aventura Mall. Mount Sinai Sunny Isles Beach is scheduled to open in October 2014 in the One Netanya Centre at 323 Sunny Isles Boulevard.
