Isles Beach adds Sister City in Hengchun, Taiwan

Sunny_Isles_BeachThe City of Sunny Isles Beach is proud to announce its third Sister City, Hengchun, Taiwan. The Sister City Twinning Agreement was signed on Monday, June 17 at 6:00pm in the Commission Chambers (18070 Collins Ave).

While in town, the delegation, including Hengchun Mayor Yeh, met with local Taiwanese officials, businessmen and residents at Philip Ho Restaurant. They joined the Sunny Isles Beach Commission, including Mayor Edelcup, at the Sunny Isles Beach Newport Fishing Pier from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 for the pier opening ceremony and fireworks.

The group also toured local attractions and the Florida International University Biscayne Bay campus. The official signing ceremony was held at 6:00pm on Monday, June 17, 2013 in the City of Sunny Isles Beach Commission Chambers. The ceremony featured presentations by several students from the Coral Springs Chinese School and the City of Sunny Isles Beach’s very own Biana Pinchuk. The City looks forward to a long term relationship with the people of Hengchun.

The Sister Cities International Program, initiated in our City in 2005, encourages exchange of culture, tourism and commerce between the member cities. Hengchun, Taiwan will join Taormina, Italy (2012) and Netanya, Israel (2005) in sisterhood with Sunny Isles Beach.
