Dancing Through the Decades at Holiday Ball

Dancing Through the Decades at Holiday BallOn Saturday, December 15, the City of Sunny Isles Beach hosted the annual Holiday Ball at Pelican Community Park. More than a hundred residents came to the Community Center for the traditional evening of dinner and dancing. Some of the prominent City officials and activists with their friends and families came to celebrate the holidays with the residents: Mayor Norman S. Edelcup, former Vice Mayor Lewis J. Thaler, Commissioner Jeanette Gatto, Bob Welsh, Joe Masters and Nancy Leyton.

This year’s Holiday Ball featured a fine art presentation of a local artist, a Sunny Isles Beach resident, Beatriz Alcantara, who presented her art work at the pre-dinner lounge. All the guests were pleasantly surprised when upon their arrival they were greeted by an artist with the exhibition of her paintings. Dancing Through the Decades Done in a unique technique of fine-pointed brush using acrylics, all the paintings were so captivating and vibrant. The guests had a chance to get acquainted with their neighbor and artist and learned that she had a Peruvian background and therefore in her artwork she portrayed the culture and history of Peruvian people.

As always, the Community Center was converted into a cozy banquet hall for the local community. People got together with their friends and neighbors for a pleasant evening of eating a delicious dinner, dancing to their favorite tunes, winning raffled prizes, meeting new people, enjoying an easy chat and laughing.

Dancing Through the Decades at Holiday Ball The famous Italian restaurant ‘Mario-The- Baker’ provided delicious food: meatballs and chicken parmesan, pasta with veggetables and salad, meat lasagna and garlic rolls, topped with sangria, and followed by vanilla and lemon cake and coffee for the dessert. Everything was fresh and plentiful!
