Miami Dade County Commissioner Sally A. Heyman and Department of Emergency Management Director Curt Sommerhoff hosted a Regional Hurricane Strategy meeting at Florida International University Kovens Conference Center on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Confirming plans, reviewing prevention measures, addressing “to-do” lists and solidifying preparation details; representatives from Miami Dade Emergency Operations Center; municipalities and UMSA areas in District 4; Federal and State representatives; Police and Fire Rescue Command staff; Public School and Hospital administrators; food and fuel distributors; FPL and others, came to discuss and revise their ‘plan of action’ and readiness for Hurricane Season 2012.

“My office remains committed to working closely with all First Responders and service providers to ensure a coordinated hurricane response and regional recovery plan,” said Commissioner Heyman. “We have an established resource network to address the unique needs of a large population living and working close to the shoreline. Annually we meet and update essential information.”

Miami Dade residents need to get started on their hurricane plan and preparedness.
