All Sunny Isles Beach Seniors are the Winners!

All Sunny Isles Beach Seniors are the Winners!Seniors have another reason to love living in Sunny Isles Beach! Now they have their own social group. SIB Social Seniors Events, Inc., a newly created 501c3 non-profit, is headed by former Commissioner Roslyn Brezin as President and City Advisory Committee member Dennis Stubbolo as Vice President and Treasurer along with former Commissioner Gerry Goodman as Secretary.

As a City Commissioner, Roslyn Brezin always advocated for seniors programs and was a great resource to get the word out to our senior residents. Her personal invitations to everyone she came in contact with really made a difference getting people out to City events.

Dennis Stubbolo served all 2 years of his appointment on the City Advisory Committee as the Chairman of the Senior Action Committee. But he was not just the Chairman, he was the founder. From his first day on the Committee, he encouraged the City to dedicate resources to bring seniors out and meet each other and become more involved in their community. He started with meetings, hosted a concert in the park and progressed to a sell-out day trip to Key West followed by several successful day excursions while still hosting his monthly meetings at the Government Center or Pelican Community Park.

Once Roslyn was out of office with some spare time available in her busy life, she partnered with Dennis to promote his committees events and programs and served on the Senior Action subcommittee. As a team, Roslyn and Dennis are unstoppable and are ready to take this program out on their own and grow it. Dennis got to work establishing a 501c3 non-profit named SIB Social Seniors Events, Inc. with Roslyn Brezin and Gerry Goodman as his fellow officers. Together they have planned an entire year of meetings, entertainment, educational sessions and excursions.

With the full support of the City Commission and the assistance of Commissioner Jeanette Gatto as the liaison, Roslyn and Dennis turned a Commission appointed subcommittee into a thriving non-profit organization. The City will continue to support their efforts both financially and with in-kind support to benefit all Sunny Isles Beach residents. A strong, active, healthy senior community improves the quality of life for us all. We wish them much success!

  1. Since there is now a Senior Cititzen Group in Sunny Isles Beach, it would be nice if they would do something about the "Handicapped Parkin" I live in Ocean View 19390. All the young, healthy people park in the handicapped sports of our building. I have advisedd the police, and although they are very nicie, there is nothing they can do about it. The building says the handicapped spaces belong to the city, so there is nothing they can do about it. t is very disheartening to see two young healthy people park their car, in one of the l2 spots that we have, jump out and walk away . It seems that today people aare born with handicapped stickers. Aventura Malls have a great idea. They deputize a retired person who wants to donate their time, they check the handicapped stickers of young healthy people who park in the malls. If the sticker is not inn their name they are given a citation. I would like to discuss this with someone. Marion Schwartz 305 936 1441
