New Season of Music begins Sept. 17Summer might be ending, but that doesn’t mean fun is over in the ocean side City of Sunny Isles Beach where the sun shines all year round. For the events staff of the City, the start of school, signals the beginning of the fall entertainment season for residents and visitors.

This 2014 season begins with the Sunny Serenade Concert Series featuring Captain Harry and the Surf Riders at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, September 17. The band presents a rich blend of rock, soul, jazz, and regae in a style known as Floribbean. As music flows from the stage and across the great lawn at Heritage Park (19200 Collins Avenue) patrons can choose to dance to the music or lounge in the grass. Food is available for purchase; so come out and enjoy an evening picnic to the accompaniment of great music. This series of concerts are always free and open to the public. Complimentary parking is available in the Heritage Park Garage and under the William Lehman Causeway beginning at 7:00 pm or concert goers can ride the free SIB Shuttle Bus to and from the park.

If amateur talent competitions are your thing, come back out to Heritage Park on Saturday, September 20th from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Sunny Isles Beach residents will show off their skills to a live audience. Whether it is singing, dancing, playing an instrument or showing off a unique talent participants will give it their all for the judges. You are sure to hear some surprisingly good acts from performers of all ages. As was learned in past years, the City is full of many gifted vocalists and musicians. Talent participants must register their act by 5:00 pm on Friday, September 5th, there are no walk up performers allowed the evening of the competition.

This is another free event offered to residents and visitors. Complimentary parking is available in the Heritage Park Garage and under the William Lehman Causeway beginning at 6:30 pm or ride the free SIB Shuttle Bus to and from the park.

On Sunday, October 12th at 6:30 pm the first Four Seasons Cultural Series of the school year will take place as the Florida International University Marching Band performs at Heritage Park (19200 Collins Avenue). The talented musicians from the School of Music put their best foot forward playing tunes that will make everyone want to tap their toes and clap their hands. Complimentary parking is available in the Heritage Park Garage and under the William Lehman Causeway beginning at 6:00 pm or patrons can ride the free SIB Shuttle Bus to and from the park.
