Health Foundation of South Florida has announced that Loreen Chant has been elected chair of its board of directors.

The board leads South Florida’s largest philanthropy devoted exclusively to improving the health and health services for all residents in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

Chant, who resides in Pompano Beach, has held several key positions since joining the board in 2009. Chant, a recognized community leader, is president and CEO of Easter Seals South Florida where she is leading and growing the organization as an outstanding provider of services for people with disabilities or special needs and their families. Prior to this position, Chant had a successful 22- year career with Johnson & Wales University. She most recently served as president of their North Miami Campus and led its growth and development into a thriving $100 million, 29-acre facility serving nearly 2,000 students from all over the world.

Through her work and volunteer positions, including past member of the board of the United Way of Miami- Dade, Chant has demonstrated her ability to be an effective and passionate advocate for funding programs that meet pressing community needs.

According to Health Foundation of South Florida President and CEO Steven E. Marcus, EdD: “Loreen’s leadership, significant contributions and experience on the board, including chairing the Planning & Evaluation Committee which oversees our grantmaking, makes her ideally suited to take on the responsibility of board chairwoman.

She is also very involved with our Healthy Community Partnerships initiative with the City of Miami Gardens and the Neighborhood of Little Havana,” he added.

Health Foundation of South Florida’s other officers for this term are Arthur Finkle, CLU, Arthur Finkle & Associates as vice chair and Roderick King, MD, CEO of Florida Institute for Health Innovation as secretary. Richard Lavina, executive vice president, Regional President of HSBC, is the immediate past chair.
