EdsBootCampPhoto2IMPROVE YOUR SEX DRIVE & LOSE WEIGHT.
Recently a few people in lab coats took some overweight guys in their forties and separated them into two groups. One group did about 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day and the other group did 45 minutes to an hour of exercise per day. Guess what? After 24 weeks the group that exercised longer (not harder) lost more weight, increased their testosterone levels and got their sexual mojo back.

CAFFEINE.
Last time I wrote promoting the benefits of coffee which is rich in antioxidants, reduces LDL cholesterol & enhances brain function. But I received a few emails regarding caffeine and how bad it is for your heart. Well, scientists have been studying it for years and there’s plenty of research which shows that’s just not the case. While I’m on the subject, you know those energy drinks everyone loves? Most of them have just as much, or less caffeine than a regular cup of coffee. The other stuff thats in there does nothing for you at all.

WORKING YOUR MIDSECTION WITHOUT HURTING YOUR BACK.
We’ve become increasingly aware of how important it is to work our core. Rightfully so since core muscles serve as stabilizers and transfer force between the upper and lower body. A recent study compared various ab and core exercises and found that many of the ones used in yoga and pilates improved those stabilizing muscles without stressing the spine. Why not give it a try? I’d recommend a class over at Bala Vinyasa in the Gables or look up Cat Haayan, she’s one of the best instructors in town. Some forms of exercise are contraindicated for those with back pain. Always consult your doctor first.

PUT THAT FISH OIL DOWN!
So you’ve been supplementing your diet with Omega-3 Oil or maybe just eating more fish because it’s good for you. You can stop now. Sort of. Back in July the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published that men with the highest blood levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, had a 43% higher risk of developing prostate cancer and 71% greater chance of developing high grade prostate cancer, which is more likely to be fatal. Omega-3’s have long been thought to be healthy because of their anti-inflammatory properties but, they could also have an effect on your DNA. Consult with your healthcare provider before beginning or discontinuing any kind of supplementation.
