BT’s Gentlemen’s Club on South Dixie Highway was the scene of an apparent homicide the morning of July 4, 2013. Sources say a fight broke out between two men over a woman and when both parties were ejected from the club, the battle escalated outside and turned fatal.
Detective Javier Baez, Public Information Officer for the Miami Dade County Police Department reported to South Miami News the following update: “At approximately 3:30 am, officers with the City of South Miami Police Department responded to 5922 S. Dixie Highway in regards to a fight. As the officers arrived, they observed the victim, Mr. Alejandro Sierra, suffering from apparent stab wound(s). Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Kendall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. At this time, the case remains open/pending.”
BT’s Club Manager declined comment to South Miami News. A request was made for club counsel contact but not received prior to press time. Case number is 13070424517.
The last homicide in the city was in 2010 when three separate incidents occurred in the early part of the year according to South Miami Police Department Detective Jose Lopez.
Detective Baez said only basic information on the case is available so as to not potentially compromise the ongoing investigation. Although the crime happened in South Miami, it is being handled by Miami Dade Police.
“Because South Miami does not have a homicide bureau we investigate for them,” said Baez. “We also do this for (municipalities like) Coral Gables and Pinecrest.”
