There’s a new bank in town. The Biscayne Bank recently opened its third branch in the Plaza 57 Building. With banks in Coconut Grove and Doral the bank believes that South Miami is the perfect location for its community banking model.

“South Miami fits our structure; we’re happy about banking here,” said Ana Dominquez, Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer.

Settling into the office is ongoing with outdoor building signs soon to be in place and the opening of a drive-through window slated for some time in 2013.

“We want to offer our customers the convenience of a drive-up window, and alleviate the need to park. Something that many downtown banks don’t offer,” said Dominquez.

Calling itself, “the small bank with big plans,” Biscayne Bank, which was founded in 2005, provides the same technologically- advanced banking products offered by larger banks while providing highlypersonalized service that is often the hallmark of small neighborhood banks. They provide an array of deposit, investment and loan services to customers both nationally and internationally.

The Miami Herald reported that in 2011, that 31.3 percent of real estate purchases in the state of Florida were made by foreign buyers. Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean account for about 66 percent of all foreign purchases in South Florida. Biscayne Bank has as a focus, international buyers of American property and they have tailored their services for these customers and for those who are from Europe.

Ana Dominquez, who has 30 years of experience in community banking, believes that the South Miami branch of the Biscayne Bank is comprised of a good team of bankers who know the locals and know community banking. Believing in a “hand’s-on” approach, Dominquez said that this goal of personalized banking extends to the community in which the bank is located.

“Our other branches are involved in their respective communities and events. We are looking forward to doing the same in the City of South Miami,” said Dominquez.

Biscayne Bank is a State chartered full service commercial bank and is supervised and insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. With branches in Coconut Grove and Doral, the South Miami bank is located at 7301 SW 57th Court in the Plaza 57 Building.
