The 2010-11 SOMI Artwalk© season comes to an end this Friday, March 11, from 6-9p. Held on the second Friday of the month from October through March, art night visitors get to appreciate showcased art while also experiencing the uniqueness of our charming retail business establishments.

The courtyard at the First National Bank of South Miami serves as ArtNight Headquarters, where visitors can pick up an ArtNight map, enjoy the sounds of Van Gogh Listens and begin their walk through town. Participating venues cover the length of our town center, from US1 & Sunset to east of Red Road at the Dr. Thomas house, home of the Tropical Audubon Society. As South Miami is a more family-oriented community, many venues display art created by area students.

Dressed in vivid yellow artists smocks and greeting visitors, our Art Night Ambassadors will be eye-catching in the town center handing our SOMI Artwalk© maps and answering questions.

Special Art Night discounted parking is available at the PLAZA 57 Garage and the surface lots at the First National Bank of South Miami. Both are located on 73 Street. You can download a parking coupon, by logging on to ARTNIGHTSOUTHMIAMI.COM. Babysitting services are also available at MindWorks Learning Center, 7250 SW 57 Avenue. For reservations, call 305.669.8383.

SOMI Artwalk© is presented by SoMiMAG and sponsored in part by Chamber South, First National Bank of South Miami, Giancarlo Designs, Mindworks, Plaza 57, RE/MAX Advance Realty, Sergio’s Printing, Sir Galloway Cleaners, SOMI SoU Boutique, and the Red Sunset Merchants Association. For additional information log on to ARTNIGHTSOUTHMIAMI.COM.

So, join us this coming Friday, take an artwalk around town and after, dine at our area restaurants.
