Oscar Wilde said, “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” We agree! That’s why the Dave and Mary Alper Jewish Community Center offers a wide range of Adult Programming for every age and stage. Whether you are interested in joining a continuing class or a one-time workshop, there’s a lot to learn at the JCC. Here are some ideas:

Meditate on It:

Bimonthly, next sessions Wednesdays, Feb. 5&19, 10-11a. m. In our hectic world, you may want to slow down, relax and quiet your mind. Meditation is easy to learn. This drop- in class will encourage you to become calmer, more focused and clearer thinking. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel, mat or meditation chair. Suggested donation: $5.

Women’s Group:

Mondays, next sessions Feb. 10&24, 12:15- 1:30 p.m. Come and meet new women, share experiences, thoughts, and camaraderie. This group has been the foundation for many new friendships, travels and adventures. Led by Dr. Barbara Stoler; Free.

Nacron Family Cancer Survivor Networking Group:

Meets on the third Wednesday of the month, Feb. 19 and March 19 from 7-9 p.m. The Cancer Support Community provides support for emotional and social concerns resulting from diagnosis, treatment, long term recovery, survivorship, advanced disease and navigating difficult decisions that often accompany cancer. Contemporary News and Views:

Mondays, 10 a.m.-noon. In this lively group you will discuss local, national and global events and trends. Bring in newspaper and magazine stories to share for some dynamic discussions. Free.

Pet Adoption:

Sunday, Feb. 23, noon to 4 p.m. in the Bosque courtyard. Find your perfect companion! Sponsored by Miami-Dade County Animal Services, 15-20 pets will be showcased; adoptions include sterilization, microchip and age appropriate vaccinations. Price: half off at $37.50 for puppies and $32.50 for adult dogs.

Thursdays, 6:30-9 p.m., Room 515, $2. Enjoy weekly evenings of fun, conversa- tion and challenge! Ongoing and open to players of all levels.

Brilliance of Enamels: Mondays, Jan. 27-May. 19; 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Room 515, JCC members $290, guests $350. Explore traditional and experimental techniques of enameling, an ancient and beautiful art form. Beginners through advanced. Additional tools and materials fee required. Artist/instructor Marilyn Seitlin Tendrich.

H20 Colorists:

Wednesdays, Jan. 15-May 21, 9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., Room 515, JCC members $345, guests $413. Try your hand at the beauty of transparent watercolors. Instruction and cri- tiques are conducted in an encouraging atmosphere. The majority of class time is reserved for individual painting under the direction of artist/Instructor Kathryn Ford.

Advanced Conversational Hebrew:

Thursdays, Jan. 30-May 29, 7-8:30 p.m., Room 507, JCC members $358, guests $430. Join instructor Hagit Simkovic for this energetic, vibrant class for students who are able to converse in Hebrew.
