St. Louis Catholic Community to host 2015 Festival for Poor, Mar. 13-15

St. Louis Catholic Community to host 2015 Festival for Poor, Mar. 13-15According to Proverbs 22:9, “Happy is the generous man, the one who feeds the poor.” And the St. Louis Catholic Community will do just that in addition to clothe, counsel and house the underprivileged in our community with its annual Festival for the Poor, which takes place March 13-15.

“Our family-friendly event is crucial to many organizations that rely on our funds to help them provide programs for those in our community who are less fortunate,” says event coordinator Betty Quinn. “We are doing a good deed and having fun while doing it.”
The 40-year-old annual three-day event has raised more than $1.7 million, with all profits from the event contributed to nonprofit agencies throughout the Miami-Dade community, including agencies such as Habitat for Humanity, Camillus House, Kristi House, Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Project Cradle and St. Ann’s Mission.

Parishioners and friends have donated thousands of hours organizing and planning the event that features rides, game booths, international food booths, raffles, dinners, auctions, live entertainment and arts-and-crafts vendors.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to come together, for fellowship, to eat and be entertained in a welcoming, safe environment, and it’s for such a worthy cause,” said the Quinn. “Please come out and be a part of something truly amazing because together we can make a difference.”

Open Saturday, March 14 from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. A silent auction to be held on Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
