Gardens hosts summer educational program for young adults with intellectual disabilities

Pinecrest Gardens will host the Urban Explorers program for young adults with intellectual disabilities by Nature Links for Life Learning during two six-week sessions starting June 1-July 10 and July 13- Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Urban Explorers is a continuing education program for young adults with middle range intellectual disabilities. They also will work in plant management and habitat restoration at Pinecrest Gardens, visit area museums and cultural institutions, learn basic money management skills, create iMovies and art projects, learn culinary arts and healthy habits, study weather and study local wildlife.

The cost for each six-week session is $300. Financial aid is available. To apply, submit an application at www.naturelinks.net/student -application.
