All types of bicycles are welcome in the Village Bike Ride Day.

Bicyclists of all ages and abilities will take part in the sixth annual Pinecrest Bike Ride Day on Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to Noon. The Ride will begin outside the Pinecrest Community Center, 5855 Killian Drive, and all types of bicycles are welcome, including strollers, tandems and recumbents.

The goal of Bike Ride Day, a collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools vice chair Dr. Lawrence Feldman, is to encourage student and family participation in healthy and active lifestyle activities.

The event will begin with a Safety and Information Fair and a Bicycle Rodeo. Children will ride through an obstacle course designed to teach them about bicycle safety. Sponsors will give away bicycle helmets while supplies last. At 10 a.m. participants will have a choice of a two-, three- or four-mile ride through the Village’s scenic streets. The routes will be closed to vehicle traffic and riders will be accompanied by police personnel to ensure safety.

The event will include a raffle at 11:30 a.m. for gym memberships, Major League game tickets and other family-friendly items.
