The Village of Palmetto Bay’s employees celebrated Halloween by wearing costumes to work on Oct. 31 and attending a special lunch at Village Hall where they had a chance to show off their costumes in a competition.

Serving as judges for the costume competition were U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and her husband, village attorney Dexter Lehtinen. Members of the village council also attended.

The winner in the costume contest was parks worker Robert Hurtak, who in an elaborate costume was “Frank N. Stein.” The second place finisher was Police Records Specialist Maria Muños who dressed as a punk rocker. Taking the third place prize was Human Resources administrative assistant Jessica Lee who came as a village inspired super hero complete with a village logo.

Later that night the Halloween Movie Night and Trick-or-Treat Festival took place at Coral Reef Park with the showing of the film Hotel Transylvania. Residents attending were invited to wear costumes and watch the movie under the stars while eating free popcorn provided by “MiamiHal” Feldman.
