The Rrazz Room, the nation’s fastest-rising nightclub entertainment brand, is set to open a second South Florida venue at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Center, bringing an inaugural season of unparalleled star attractions to Miami-Dade County.

The Rrazz Room at South Miami-Dade Cultural Center promises a full slate of hot winter and spring nights rivaling those already underway at The Rrazz Room at Coral Springs Museum of Art, where the second season has just gotten off to a fantastic start.

Both South Florida venues boast entertainment schedules planned with the same level of diversified star power that made the famous Rrazz Room in San Francisco a must-visit on the national touring circuit for the past decade — jazz, cabaret, blues, comedy, soul, R&B, Broadway, and drag shows.

Two-time Emmy-winning comedian Judy Gold, twice nominated for American Comedy Award’s Funniest Female Stand-Up and just tapped to star as Eleanor Roosevelt off-Broadway in Clinton The Musical later in the spring, opens The Rrazz Room at South Miami-Dade Cultural Art Center on Mar. 1, 7 p.m., with “If Only You Knew the Agony.”

She’ll be followed Mar. 20, 8:30 p.m., by “An Evening with Nicole Henry,” the 2013 Soul Train Winner for Best Traditional Jazz performance and Miami resident. Nicole is a sultry jazz singer who displays a potent combination of dynamic vocal abilities, impeccable phrasing, and powerful emotional resonance.

“It’s wonderful for us to be establishing such deep roots for The Rrazz Room brand in South Florida, because we’re back where we started and first caught the concert bug,” said Robert Kotonly, the Rrazz Room’s primary talent buyer and co-owner with longtime business partner Rory Paull. They’ve known each other since their college days at the University of Miami, and still live in and enjoy the area.

“In college, when most of the kids were going to rock clubs, Rory and I were going to the Crystal Room at the Diplomat to see the Fifth Dimension, Peggy Lee and Connie Francis,” Kotonly continued. “I think we’re paying homage to the great rooms at Miami Beach’s legendary Collins Avenue hotels back in those days, like the Eden Roc, the Fontainebleau, the Playboy Club and the Deauville. There’s such a rich tradition of ‘fine and refined’ entertainment here, and that’s what we’re trying to honor in South Florida.”

The Rrazz Room, which also operates in New Hope, PA, is known for creating intimate spaces where patrons can experience world class performers up close and personal, both during and after the shows.

“In the larger venues, patrons are not afforded the opportunity to meet the performers one on one,” Kotonly said. “But at Rrazz Room shows, audience members speak to them, take photos with them, and get their autographs. In a world where things are sometimes getting bigger and more impersonal, the intimate nature of our Rrazz Room venues throughout the country is a nice alternative.”
More fantastic shows are being added to the Season I lineup and will be announced soon.

Tickets, $40 for each of the shows, are on sale and can be reserved by calling 786-573- 5300 or going to www.smdcac.org. The Rrazz Room at Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center is located 10950 SW 211 St. in Cutler Bay. The center has two onsite parking lots on the east and west sides of the campus.
