In early 2001, Kazaa and Napster took over the music business, AOL Instant Messenger was the main form of online communication, The Osborne’s ruled the world of reality television, ’N Sync’s I’m Gone played every five minutes on the radio — and Andrea Lopez and Jenny Kuperman were graduating from Miami Palmetto Senior High.
Fast forward 10 years and you have the domination of iTunes, Facebook, smartphones, reality TV, and Miami Palmetto Senior High’s 10-Year reunion thrown by event specialists ANJÉ Soirees. My, how things have changed!
The ANJÉ Soirees duo consists of high school friends turned business partners, Andi Dyal and Jen Schwartz. The two met as freshman when they attended Miami Palmetto Senior High from late 1997 to early 2001. When they realized their 10-year high school reunion was upon them, they decided to take on the task of putting together an unforgettable reunion bash for their former classmates.
Although the two former classmates temporarily lost touch after graduation, they coincidentally reconnected when they both turned up to work on an event for their respective former employers. It was then when they decided to join forces to form ANJÉ Soirees, one of the most dynamic event-consulting firms in South Florida.
“Andi and I are so grateful to have met each other in high school and were fated to reconnect seven years later,” Schwartz said.
“Absolutely,” Dyal agreed. “And to payback our Alma Mater, we have decided to organize and execute our 10-year class reunion pro bono.”
By reaching out to vendors and friends of theirs in the industry, the girls plan to throw the best reunion Palmetto has ever seen.
“We really want this to be a fun event where friends can reconnect and reminisce about the past,” Schwartz said.
“Exactly. We want this to be a laid back, toast to our early days and celebration of how far we have all come,” Dyal added.
The Miami Palmetto Senior High School Class of 2001 10-Year Reunion will take place on Friday, Oct. 7, from 7 to 10 p.m., at Grove Isle Resort and Spa in Coconut Grove. For an advanced price of $35 per person, guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing under the stars at the incredible waterfront property.
