The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO), led by conductor and music director Eduardo Marturet, recently performed “The Magical Music of Disney” concerts during a unique “Golden Sounds of Hollywood” program featuring timeless Disney images animated with music.

The concerts took place recently at the UM’s Gusman Concert Hall and Lincoln Theatre, and included a Saturday morning performance designed to interest and engage families and children of all ages.

The concert of symphonic arrangements from the Walt Disney Studio archives featured music from early classics to recent releases, incorporating musical performances from Disney’s animated films including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Rescuers Down Under, Aladdin, Mulan and Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Upcoming concerts include “An Evening in Vienna,” Jan. 23, a New Year’s concert of great overtures, waltzes and dances featuring MISO’s concertmaster violinist Daniel Andai as soloist, and “Visual Journey Through Art and Music,” Feb. 12 and 13, an artistic alliance with The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum featuring violinist Kristóf Baráti.
