Looking back at 2012 and ahead to new year

Looking back at 2012 and ahead to new yearAnother year has passed, 2012 has gone into the history books and it is hard to believe that 2013 has arrived.

As I look back at the past year, it’s very important to thank my fellow council members, committee members and the village staff for the countless hours they contributed toward making the Village of Palmetto Bay a better place to live and enjoy. Thank you for another outstanding year.

To all of our residents who volunteered and put in hundreds of hours on our committees and other organizations in the town: Thank you! We couldn’t accomplish all that we did, and be the village we are, without your efforts. I know 2012 was a busy year for many of you, with numerous hearings and meetings, but you have made the village better for all your efforts.

And to all the residents who came forward to talk with all of us on various issues, one-on-one, and at our public meetings: Thank you for all of your input. We represent you and rely on your thoughts and ideas to serve better.

Please consider investing some of your time in your village. Your help is appreciated with any of our community and government activities. Call anyone on the council and see how you can help.

While 2012 presented some very difficult challenges here in Palmetto Bay, it was also a year of real progress. Despite nationwide economic instability, Palmetto Bay’s financial outlook remains excellent, businesses are healthy, homes are selling, our village is becoming more energy efficient, and we have made significant strides in infrastructure, parks, and public safety.

We still have much more work to do in 2013 and the years to follow, and challenges will again present themselves, but I am proud to say that 2012 was a year in which we have continued to move Palmetto Bay in the right direction.

Again, I wish you and your family a very happy new year and all the best for a great year to come.
