Food vendors sought for Halloween Movie Night

Food vendors sought for Palmetto Bay Halloween Movie NightThe Village of Palmetto Bay’s annual Halloween Movie Night and trick-or-treat party, this year labeled “Where Monsters Go,” takes place on Oct. 31, 6 p.m., at Coral Reef Park. The Parks and Recreation Department still is seeking food vendors for the family oriented event.

This year’s featured movie, Hotel Transylvania, was selected by village residents via a poll conducted by email. The debut animation feature of Genndy Tartakovsky, best known for his work on the Cartoon Network, drew mixed reviews from critics but audiences appear to love it, based on its box office success.

Hotel Transylvania has been described as a return to the old-fashioned animated films that Warner Brothers and Disney used to make. The premise? Count Dracula has created a spooky getaway for monsters tired of being perse-cuted by humans. He also throws a party for his young daughter. It features the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Jon Lovitz, Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and David Spade.

Village Parks and Recreation director Fanny Carmona encourages vendors to register as early as possible for this and other upcoming events.

“This allows us to better promote our events and get specifics out about each event, which translates into success for everyone involved,” Carmona said. “And it’s a great time for everyone who comes out to join us.”

Fall is a busy season in Palmetto Bay with eight municipal events over the next eight weeks. Besides Tennis Play Day and Kayak Tours, the Parks and Recreation Department is working on other events that depend upon community interest and participation.

“The success of a municipal events program is measured by high levels of sustained community support,” Carmona said. “Their success also hinges on early commitment by a wide variety of quality vendors.”

Also ahead is the DARE Art and Crafts Fair on Nov. 15. While there is still plenty of time for vendors to register for that, Carmona said that early-bird registration rates apply for vendors who commit before Nov. 1.

Vendor registration forms may be downloaded from the village website at www.palmettobay-fl.gov. For information call Parks and Recreation at 305- 259-1234.
