DARE to make a difference, and be crafty about it! The 6th Annual DARE Arts & Crafts Fair is on Saturday, Nov. 14, and vendors are wanted for the popular event to jump-start your holiday shopping with all kinds of interesting gift items. Police Outreach Officers host the popular event each year to boost funding of its popular Drug Abuse Resistance Education program for school-age children. “We hope to be able to raise at least $5,000 this year,” said event organizer Officer Patience Glasko, “which will immediately go to provide funding for additional workbooks, diplomas, and other much-needed instructional aids.” Call the Policing Unit Office at 305- 278-4000 for info.

Bringing Paris to Miami…We hear that Miami-based perfume distributor Paris Perfumes Inc. has made arrangements with luxury retailer Lord & Taylor to sell CARON Paris’ latest fragrance release, La Selection Feminine, a prestigious collection comprised of six scents, three signature scents from La Selection Masculine and Fleur de Rocaille. A few of the scents include reformulated recipes that are a modern twist on vintage classics from the brand. Hint gentlemen: the holidays are coming…

A worthwhile cause… We hear from Major Julie Miller of the Miami-Dade Police Department that the Police Officer Assistance Trust (POAT) charitable organization that was formed in 1989 by the Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police to provide financial assistance to law enforcement officers and their families in crisis situations as well as long term hardships will have officers participating in a 5K run on November 14, with the officers wearing their full uniforms, to raise awareness and much needed funding. If you’d like to support the organization by sponsoring a runner call 305-594- 6662 or send an email to poatoffice@msn.com. Their website is www.poat.org.
