Miami-Dade County District 8 Commissioner Lynda Bell has been appointed to chair the Internal Management and Fiscal Responsibility Committee by commission chair Joe A. Martinez.
“I thank chairman Martinez for entrusting me with the task of serving as chair of the Internal Management and Fiscal Responsibility Committee,” Commissioner Bell said. “As a fiscal conservative, I pledge to my colleagues and to all the residents of Miami-Dade County that I will work day in and day out to bring about accountability, transparency and, above all else, efficiency to our county government. We have a responsibility to county residents to ensure that every tax dollar is spent wisely, not wastefully.”
The areas of responsibility under Commissioner Bell’s committee chairmanship lie in the adequate oversight of departments that are at the forefront of ensuring that the county efficiently and effectively provides services to the residents of Miami-Dade County.
Commissioner Bell also was named to the prestigious Public Safety and Healthcare Administration Committee as well as Economic Development and Social Services Committee.
“The important work that these deliberative legislative bodies will handle will ensure that some of our most important county institutions remain viable and that we can work to ensure a vibrant economy for the residents and business of Miami-Dade County,” Commissioner Bell added. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on bringing forth sound policy and legislative initiatives.”
Commissioner Bell, a former mayor of Homestead, was sworn in as Miami-Dade County’s Commissioner representing District 8 on Nov. 16, 2010. As District 8’s newly elected commissioner, Bell will represent the municipalities of Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay and Homestead, as well as unincorporated areas of South Miami-Dade County.
