On Saturday, August 2nd, Acting Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime continued the tradition of assisting families with school-aged children in North Miami to gear up for the start of the new school year by giving out over 1,000 backpacks filled with supplies. In addition to the giveaway, children were also treated to free hair cuts and had access for the day to numerous health services. Amid all this was great music and entertainment by Radio Disney and 99 Jamz, bounce houses and free food. The event was made possible by many corporate sponsors and donations from community groups and individuals as well.
