The Rev. Dr. Edward L. Wheeler, president of the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana, will serve as this year’s keynote speaker during Florida Memorial University’s third annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CommUNITY Prayer Breakfast on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 8:00 am in the Smith Conference Center on campus. The breakfast also serves as the University’s kickoff to Religious Enrichment Week scheduled from January 16 to January 22, which is hosted on campus by University Chaplain Rev. Wendell H. Paris, Jr. and the Campus Ministry.

Dr. Wheeler is a highly regarded preacher, lecturer, and speaker. Prior to holding his current position, he has served as Dean of the Morehouse School of Religion and Senior Pastor of the historic Zion Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. “We are fortunate to have Dr. Wheeler attending this year’s breakfast,” stated Rev. Paris. “After hosting U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Rev. Dr. Harry S. Wright last year, I await the message that Dr. Wheeler will share regarding Dr. King’s legacy and the ways in which we can incorporate his teachings into our daily lives. Dr. Wheeler is not only one of the most respected theologians in the country, but he has also served as my personal mentor since college. Everyone in attendance should be able to extract something meaningful from his words and wisdom,” he continued.

Florida Memorial is located at 15800 NW 42nd Avenue in Miami Gardens. Tickets for the breakfast are $12.00, and tables of eight can be purchased for $80.00. For more information, contact Rev. Wendell H. Paris, Jr. at (305) 626-3762 or wendell.paris@fmuniv.edu.
