PK Students from Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School Increase Their Appetites for Books

In January, prekindergarten students from Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School visited the ‘Bookworm’ at the Miami Lakes Branch library. World-famous for inspiring readers, the Bookworm uses her literary enthusiasm to capture the imagination of young and old alike. Colorful and silly yet very articulate, Bookworm offers a delightful program that is sure to get the books flowing off the shelves. The program was offered as part of the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s “Reading Ready” Early Literacy Program.

“In an effort to enrich the early literacy program established within the classroom this, field trip brought the magic of books to life,” remarked Ms. Yolanda Pelaez, an OLL prekindergarten teacher.

Our Lady of the Lakes is currently accepting applications for its Voluntary Prekindergarten (full or part-time option) and PreK3 programs for the 2011-2012 academic year.
