Councilman Oliver Gilvert Gives a Warm Thanksgiving to All

Thanksgiving is always seen as a time to show thanks, but what is often overlooked is that Thanksgiving is the beginning of the season of giving.

As was the case on Saturday, November 19, 2011 when Councilman Oliver Gilbert (Miami Gardens, Seat 6) partnered with 100 Black Men of South Florida, the brothers of the Sigma Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, UPS, and the Lambda Tau Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated to provide and distribute 250 warm turkey dinners to the residents of Robert Sharp Towers in Miami Gardens and the guests of Betty T. Ferguson Community Center, also in Miami Gardens.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to have Thanksgiving dinner” said Councilman Gilbert. “No matter what problems they face, everyone has a reason to be thankful.”

Indeed they do have a reason to be thankful of Councilman Gilbert’s efforts this holiday season. Earlier in that day, the Councilman partnered with San Salvador Masonic Lodge of Miami, FL to provide what could only be described as a couple hundred turkeys to families.

The following Tuesday, November 22, 2011, Councilman Gilbert partnered with Ted Lucas to deliver Turkeys to the homes of residents in Miami Gardens.

This show of good will to the residents by Councilman Gilbert will go a long way towards curbing the cost of having Thanksgivings for those families during these difficult economic times. Thanksgiving is the beginning of the season of giving, and it will not be overlooked by those residents.
