The Ninth Annual Women’s International Film & Arts Festival, (WIFF) has been rescheduled to March 26-30, 2014. Featuring more than 50 films from 20 countries and a conference with industry leaders, the festival’s new date enables filmmakers, celebrities and industry professionals to attend.
The festival kicks off with a Florida red carpet premiere presentation of the dramatic film “Greencard Warriors,” featuring acclaimed actors Vivica A. Fox (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Kill Bill) and Manny Perez (Washington Heights, Bella).
The Opening Night Film will screen at 7:30pm at The James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami. Actor Manny Perez will be walking the red carpet along with the film’s director Miriam Kruishoop as well as local and national celebrities. “Green Card Warriors” features a bourgeoning cast of talented actors that are a reflection and microcosm of Miami’s diversity.
The movie addresses topical issues including, immigration, poverty and gang activity.
This year’s festival will showcase a wide array of films, including world cinema, international documentaries and short films that reflect the lives of women around the world. “We are excited about the festival’s first ever conference,” said Festival Founder Yvonne McCormack-Lyons. Our dates allow professionals such as Academy Award Nominee Ruth Carter costume designer for Lee Daniels “The Butler,” and filmmakers Clark Johnson (“S.W.A.T.,” “The Sentinel” with Eva Longoria & Michael Douglas), Deborah Riley Draper (Versailles ‘73) and much more.
The festival concludes with a special appearance by Cecilia Peck (daughter of Oscar Winner Gregory Peck), as the featured guest at WIFF’s annual Sunday Awards brunch on March 30th, where she will be interviewed by CBS4 news reporter Michele Gillen.
