SOUTH FLORIDA TEENS TO BE SELECTED FOR SATURDAY MORNINGS MAKING MOVIE MAGIC

Florida Film Institute (FFI) in partnership with the Miami Beach Cinemateque is pleased to announce its award winning comprehensive film workshop “CINERAMA Saturdays.” The FREE 20-week program begins Saturday, October 11, 2014 and runs through March 14, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The workshops will be held at Miami Beach Cinematheque located at 1130 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139. All teens between the ages 13-18 are invited to attend the open auditions on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. @ MBC. Registration is required prior to the audition date.

Audition participants must come prepared with a sample of their creative work for the panel to view.  This may include art work, a short poem/film and singing or dancing.  Registration deadline is October 3, 2014 for the program audition and is available online at www.flfilminstitute.org.

“CINERAMA Saturdays” will feature an introduction into film producing and screenwriting. The program also incorporates production sessions that will include auditioning, assigning crew, camera positioning and sound/lighting. As part of the 20 week workshops participants will have the opportunity to shoota short filmand present it at a screening scheduled in May 2015.   Instruction for the workshops will be provided by local film industry professionals.  Participants who are selected for the program will pay a $100 registration fee to cover the cost of filming day meals and supplies/materials for the workshops.

Founded in 1992, the Florida Film Institute teaches the art, science and business of filmmaking through a series of workshops designed to inspire and empower aspiring filmmakers, providing them with the know-how to create their own film. Since its inception in 1992, FFI has mentored over 6,000 middle and high school students from Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and in the past 22 years, FFI student films have received 78 exciting awards in filmmaking.
