Letter from the President

The Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation (Foundation) is committed to the education and the future of the children in our city. Our goal is to bring together the strengths and resources of our community to support the needs of public education in our schools. To date, the program has been extremely successful and I wanted to share with you one of the major achievements of the foundation and its plans on generating additional funds for the future.

Recently, we spearheaded an unprecedented collaboration with five municipalities and more than a dozen organizations to provide onsite healthcare in three Miami Beach feeder pattern schools that did not have access to medical attention. This initiative generated over $250,000 and began in the fall of 2013. It is now only $30,000 short of raising the funds necessary for the 2014-15 school year as well.

The Foundation is now considering additional funding for teacher grants which would be available to teachers in all 8 feeder pattern schools for creative projects that would otherwise not exist for our students. Teacher Grants will range from $300-$1,000 each and it is my hope that the Foundation will fund at least 2-3 teacher grants per year at each of the 8 feeder pattern schools.
