50 State Security Service, Inc. founder, Ted Kretzschmar, is extremely proud of the company’s 42 year heritage in Miami- Dade County. Kretzschmar’s roots within both security and our community run deep. He began working in law enforcement in 1958, rapidly moving through the ranks of the Metropolitan Dade County Sheriff’s Department in Miami. By the time he founded 50 State in 1971, Kretzschmar had a thorough understanding of not only law enforcement, but of true customer service.
Kretzschmar wanted people to be the foundation of his company. Holding strong ties to Miami-Dade, many of the 50 State’s principals and key stakeholders have been with the company for significant periods of time.
The company’s longevity and strong community ties have helped 50 State evolve into one of Miami-Dade’s most successful enterprises, serving a broad range of public and private entities. It is a multi-faceted company, integrating manpower with the latest technological advances in the industry. As a locally owned and operated business, 50 State understands the importance of community.The company plays an active role in a number of organizations, including the Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police, North Miami and Miami Shores Police Officer Programs, Executive Association of Greater Miami, Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Miami-Dade County Sports Commission.
They additionally provide support to a number of educational institutions within the South Florida community, including the University of Miami, Barry University, Johnson & Wales University, Gulliver Schools, and Doctors Charter, where Kretzschmar has served on the school’s Board for the past two years. Representing its longstanding support of education, 50 State most recently partnered with The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce to provide a collaboration for security services, including “Pride” Training for current Miami Beach Senior High School guard personnel, developing a comprehensive security plan and providing high definition video surveillance cameras and equipment.
Kretzschmar has played an instrumental role in keeping 50 State ahead of the curve, while staying true to his vision that above all else, the security industry is a people business.
