Holilday Styling Tips

The holidays are here, and we are all wondering how to look our best. Meeting someone special’s parents for the first time? Want to look fabulous in family photos? How are you going to wear your hair to change it up for the season? I’ve got it all covered, from hair, to makeup, to accessories.

If you’re looking to spice up your look with something new, then try a sexy fringe this fall. It is the perfect season here in Miami to experiment with bangs, since you get four months of great weather to grow it out if you regret it! Buying gifts for everyone but yourself is a bad Idea! Buy extensions for a fresh start to the new year and get the longer thicker hair you have always wanted. This holiday season, just as importantly as giving back, let’s not forget to treat ourselves! If you are loving your haircut, try a warm rich new tone to your hair color instead. This fall season, coppers and golds are in!

If you love your hair and don’t want to change it at all let’s talk make up. Try a bright lip, a great pick is the Aveda Limited Edition Wild Fuchsia Smoothing Lip Color from the 2012 Fall/Winter Collection. Another personal favorite from the Aveda line is the Rose Blossom Cheek Color. Applying at the upper portion of the cheekbone will give you a pop of color everyone will notice.

Short on time? By using three eye shadow shades, you can create a soft smoky look that no one will forget at this year’s holiday party. 1) Apply lighter color to upper lid and below eyebrow. 2) Apply mid color to the crease of eye, below the orbital bone. 3) Apply darker color with angled brush to upper and lower lash line. 4) Finish by curling lashes and add mascara on the top and bottom. (add liner for more dramatic look/night time event).

However, let’s all remember what the main goal is when we apply makeup. We are trying to enhance our natural beauty, not cover it up! That’s why it is so important to find the correct shade of make up for your face. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when at the salon or store. Be playful and creative with your colors: it will make you look and feel young and vibrant. Just remember to choose eye, lip and cheek colors to compliment your skin, eyes and hair.

The best advice I can give is to go online and do some research. Choose three pictures that represent the signature look that you are trying to achieve. When you see your stylist, show them the pictures to get an educated opinion on if it will work for you, and in-depth instructions on how to achieve the look. We are here for you, so use us!

When it comes to what you wear, I can’t tell you how many times I have spotted fashion victims on the beach guilty of overdoing it. So this Fall/Winter, just choose one statement piece and accessorize around it. It’s the beach: keep it simple!
