The luxury real estate brokerage kicks-off season of giving through a month-long toy and gift card drive benefiting Neighbors 4 Neighbors’ partner YMCA
Douglas Elliman, a premier luxury real estate brokerage, is pleased to announce its partnership with CBS4’s Neighbors 4 Neighbors, a non-profit dedicated to connecting people in need with people that can help. Together they spread holiday cheer with the launch of a toy and gift card drive, aptly named “Operation Elf,” to benefit the YMCA throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
“Just like many South Floridians, Douglas Elliman has found its second home here,” said Vanessa Grout, President & CEO of Douglas Elliman, referring to the company’s roots in New York and rapid expansion across South Florida. “We value strong foundations and know this is our opportunity to strengthen the communities we have become a part of.”
The toy and gift card drive runs November 28 through December 28, 2012. Douglas Elliman is encouraging its base of 300 agents, executive management, vendors, clients and the public to participate by donating new, unwrapped toys for children ages 10 and under, as well as gift cards.
Gift cards are strongly encouraged, as they not only allow children to pick a gift that is meaningful to them, but they’re practical too. No matter the time of year, families in need really are in need of everything and gift cards allow them to purchase basic items often taken for granted, like toothpaste, deodorant, diapers, even toilet paper. Gift cards to local supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores, bookstores and retail stores are a great way to help families in need.
Neighbors 4 Neighbors Executive Director Lynne Cameron is pleased to work with Douglas Elliman and believes the brokerage is poised to set an example of community stewardship. Douglas Elliman shares in the core values of Neighbors 4 Neighbors, believes in the work they do and the investment into the community and looks forward to expanding upon the current partnership in the year ahead.
Douglas Elliman’s tri-county reach is ideally suited to YMCA, whose footprint within these communities is robust. Donations can be dropped off at any of Douglas Elliman’s eight offices; click here for a list of locations: www.ellimanflorida.com/offices/.

ABOUT NEIGHBORS 4 NEIGHBORS
Neighbors 4 Neighbors began in 1992 as the relief effort, “Rebuilding: Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew by WFOR-TV, CBS4. Originating as an in-studio phone bank, staffed by volunteers and station personnel, news reporters and anchors would broadcast live from the phone bank encouraging victims to call in, sharing special stories, and motivating viewers to spring into action. Its mission has remained the same, though its scope has expanded to support numerous major and minor crises where help is needed around the world.
The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
