Central Bank Governor makes first official visit to Miami

Governor K. Dwight Venner, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank visited Miami Florida for his first offi- cial visit to South Florida at a special luncheon dubbed LFCLA, (Linking Florida, The Caribbean and Latin America) on April 29, 2011.

Governor Venner, a former Director of Finance and Planning and an Economist for over 35 years has written and published extensively in the areas of Monetary and International Economics, Central Banking, Public Finance, Economic Development, Political Economy and International Economic Relations. Sir Dwight also received the award of Commander of the British Empire (CBE).

Governor Venner’s first official visit to Florida will facilitated a viable forum for the initiation of long term business exchange and relationships amongst icons in Finance, Technology and Sustainable Development within Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The exclusive event publicly recognised 3 major driving forces who have demon-strated proven growth and excellence supported by regional triumphant influence in the areas of Finance, Technology and Sustainability. Among those were the country of Costa Rica, Apple Inc, and HSBC bank. The unique awards were provided by artist Elger Aragundi who also ceased the moment to deliver a prized piece to the country of Japan, a unit to be used for fundraising for the victims of the recent earthquake in Japan.

Additional awards were presented to the Governor on behalf of THE ONE ON ONE GROUP as well as officials from Miami Dade and Broward Counties.

The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Global Access Council was represented by Council Chairman, David Sacks of Pathman Lewi, LLP at the Luncheon.

Special guests include Broward County Commissioner, Dale Holness, Jose Bermudez of Governor Rick Scott’s office, Joe Chi, Representative to the Honorary Consul for the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Denis Rod of the China Latin American Trade Center, Luis Montano of American Airlines and many more.
