The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) hosted its 2nd Annual City National Bank Better Beach Awards on Thursday, March 27th, honoring influential, trendsetting leaders in the local real estate industry. A total of 13 awards were presented, recognizing the best in sustainability, architecture, design, marketing, restoration, and preservation. Hundreds of professionals gathered at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel for the luncheon hosted by CBS4 News Co-Anchor Walter Makaula.

“Real Estate is one of the cornerstones of the Miami Beach community and I’m thrilled to see the innovation and growth within every aspect of this industry from design to architecture and sustainability. The City National Bank Better Beach Awards helps further our tradition of recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding business professionals and businesses who continue to strengthen our community,” said Chamber Chairman and SVP of Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust Michael S. Goldberg, who welcomed the attendees to the awards show.

A special highlight from the luncheon was the recognition of the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) for its activism and for preserving Miami Beach’s character. The award was presented to MDPL by the Chair of the Chamber’s Real Estate Council and President of the prestigious architectural firm Borges + Associates, Reinaldo Borges.

Last year, The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce paid tribute to a pillar in Miami Beach Development – the local legend Tony Goldman. He was a visionary who invested his time, money, passion, and life to creating and preserving entire neighborhoods. This year the recipient of the “Tony Goldman Award for Historic Preservation” for a Residential Property was 2570 Flamingo Drive, for a Commercial Property was The Bath Club, and for a Historic Hotel was The Gale Hotel and Regent South Beach.

Another competitive category was the Better Beach Citizen Awards, which recognizes passionate individuals who have invested their time into bettering the community. The Better Beach Citizen Award was awarded to Daniel Veitia for Real Estate Broker, Scott Robins for Real Estate Developer, and Ray Breslin for Citizen at Large.
