West Kendall MAC to begin incorporation study Apr. 23

A study to determine the potential of incorporating a section of West Kendall will begin with a newly appointed Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting on Wednesday, Apr. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Kendale Lakes Branch Library, 15205 SW 88th St.

The initial session for seven resident members appointed by District 10 Commissioner Juan C. Zapata in December 2013 will undertake the first incorporation study in Kendall in more than a decade.

The last West Kendall MAC disbanded in 2001 when a lack of public interest caused a two-year study to close shop without a conclusive report. Revival of public interest in recent years has resulted in new incorporation efforts in West Kendall, The Falls and two areas of southwest Miami-Dade in Commissioner Dennis Moss’ District 9.

Boundaries for the current West Kendall study area extend from SW 137th Avenue west to SW 237th Avenue, between Kendall Drive (88th Street) and 152nd Street.

  1. Usually I get update emails, but I never got one on this subject. I received a undated letter from Commissioner Juan Zapata, which I got yesterday 4/25/16, about creation of Municipal Advisory Committees (MACs, and after the meeting on 4/23/16 at the Kendale Branch Library. It is important to keep our community better informed about the future our West Kendall.
