Tropical Park among Top 100 family fishing, boating spots

The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department has announced that Tropical Park has been recognized among the “Top 100 Family Fishing and Boating Spots in America.”

The award is the result of nationwide public voting in the “2015 America’s Top Family Fishing and Boating Spots Sweepstakes” conducted by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation’s (RBFF) Take Me Fishing campaign in March. More than 23,000 outdoor enthusiasts voted in the sweepstakes.

The release of Take Me Fishing’s Top 100 list was timed for National Fishing and Boating Week, which took place June 6-14.

This year’s sweepstakes initiative provided families and outdoor enthusiasts with a recommended list of 276-preselected family-friendly parks across the U.S. to experience the joys of boating and fishing as the weather warms around the country.

Criteria for the top places to fish and boat included having a public body of water within an hour of a major city with good fishing opportunities and family friendly amenities.

Tropical Park is located at 7900 SW 40 St. For more information about recreation activities at this park visit the Tropical Park website www.miamidade.gov/parks/tropical.asp or call 305-266-8315.
