Simon Property Group Inc. has announced Irma Castor has been named mall manager at Dadeland Mall.
In her new role, Castor will be accountable for long-term and temporary leasing, negotiation of contracts, staff supervision, office management, budgeting and monthly financial analysis, security and daily operations. Additionally, she is accountable for the development and implementation of mall marketing programs, sales analysis, corporate and tenant communication and community relations.
“Irma is a proven performer with an excellent management and development track record,” said Maria Prado, regional vice president for the Florida Region. “We look forward to her passion, energy, and dedication benefiting Dadeland Mall.”
No stranger to the Simon family, Castor has been with the company for over 14 years, and most recently served as the area mall manager for La Plaza Mall and Palms Crossing, a high volume center at the border of Texas. Prior to that, she began her career with Simon Property Group as office administrator of Midland Park Mall. Castor took a brief hiatus from Simon to continue her education at the University of Texas where she majored in marketing.
Castor rejoined Simon Property Group in 2003 as assistant manager for Lakeline Mall and The Arboretum, and was then promoted to mall manager at Rolling Oaks Mall. Following this position, she became assistant manager of The Houston Galleria where she assisted the team during a high-level development project.
Castor has lived in every major city in Texas and has experience in Hispanic and tourist markets. She is a dedicated and hard worker who brings enthusiasm to an everevolving property such as Dadeland Mall. She has a 15- year-old son and together, they are very excited about making Florida, more specifically Dadeland Mall, their new home.
Simon Property Group Inc. also announced that Maria Prado, former general manager of Dadeland Mall, has been promoted within the company to regional vice president of the Southeast II Region. In her new position, she will oversee 13 properties in southern Florida, and brings experience and success in marketing, project development, property operations and community relations to this new role.
Prado has been with Simon for over 17 years and prior to her promotion, she worked at Miami International Mall, Shops at Sunset Place and most recently Dadeland Mall, where she oversaw a redevelopment project of a new wing. Prado will maintain permanent residency in Miami.
