Each year Cornell University participates with selected high schools to recognize outstanding South Florida juniors and this year Riviera Prep was one of only 20 other South Florida high schools to participate in the Book Award Program.

Once a high school has been selected, its faculty is asked to choose a junior who has achieved academic excellence and also has demonstrated leadership in the area of community service. Although many students have performed countless hours of community service, the combination of service and superior academic performance narrows the field of students.

This year’s Cornell Book Award recipient is Victoria Basnuevo. She is being honored for her outstanding and consistent academic achievements and her dedication to the community and or school through volunteerism.
