New art and music festival set for Tropical Park, Feb.1

New art and music festival set for Tropical Park, Feb.1 Anew art and music festival, called “Under the Sun Art & Music Festival,” boasting 300 plus artists, is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2015 at Tropical Park.

This all-day event will feature 17 local bands and choirs performing throughout the day as well as displaying all types of art from oil paintings to limited editions. The event will open to the public at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 5:30 p.m.

The cost for artists to participate in this show with early registration is $59. This fee is a fraction of the costs for other large outdoor festivals.

“With a February date, we are hoping for clear skies and perfect weather,” said Adam Brand, festival director and owner of Frames USA & Art Gallery, a local picture frame shop celebrating its 20th year in business. “This will be a tremendous festival.

“By utilizing the front of the park, the park will have a wonderful appearance with so many white artists tents, giving a refreshing look to the older Miami-Dade County park,” Brand said.

The goal is to bring the community together with this festival by engaging lower costs booths and local high schools to perform at the festival.

“Under The Sun Art & Music Festival” is seeking artists and businesses that want to participate in this major Sunday event.
