League honors exceptional service for credit unions with 2014 LSCU Awards

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates (LSCU) announced the recipients of the 2014 LSCU Awards. They were presented on Friday, June 13, during the Southeast Credit Union Conference and Expo (SCUCE) in Orlando. Baptist Health South Florida FCU was awarded the Credit Union of the Year in the up to $100 million in assets category.

Baptist Health South Florida FCU is a Bauer 5-Star credit union based upon its outstanding financial data. The Credit Union doubled its loan growth in 2013 and added $3.2 million in new assets. Besides its regular array of financial products, the credit union introduced a new credit card program, a citizenship loan for future citizens, and offers a “no credit check loan” to offset payday lenders. Baptist Health South Florida FCU front line staff is accredited as Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) counselors which help to identify member needs and get them on a path to a stronger financial future.

“To be honored as a credit union of the year is very gratifying,” said Baptist Health South Florida FCU President/CEO Michael Raley. “This award symbolizes what our credit union staff does every day – work to better the lives of our members.”

The recipients of the awards are chosen by the LSCU Awards Committee which is comprised of representatives from LSCU member credit unions with a focus on credit union and community improvement. The winner is ratified on the basis of the nominations and supporting information received.

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates represents 278 credit unions in Alabama and Florida with a combined total of $65 billion in assets and more than 6.5 million members.
