Criminal ring busted by Hammocks District Unit

A South Miami Heights narcotics, prostitution and dog fighting ring was broken up by a Miami-Dade Police Hammocks District Crime Suppression Team when a Special Response Unit on Jan. 21 took 10 individuals into custody, also seizing firearms, cocaine, methyl one, marijuana and 20 abused dogs, later given to a Broward County humane facility. For their pre-arrest investigative work leading to the arrests, citations were presented on Feb. 26 to (l-r) Sgt. Alain Cuenga; Officers Charles Castillo, Carl Sanabria, Scott Selent, Sixfredo Serrano and Alvaro Zaldivar, by District Commander Maj. Arnold Palmer and Citizens Advisory Committee chair James Blough.
