Cheap Trills, Miami’s only musical improv troupe, presents Improv Singing Glory on Aug. 23 at 9 p.m. at Just The Funny Theater, 3119 Coral Way.

Improvisation is the art of creating theater in the moment without a script. At a Cheap Trills show, professional improvisers and vocalists create a musical complete with song and dance numbers from thin air with music provided by a live accompanist. This brand-new show which runs once monthly at Just The Funny theater, was inspired by similar musical improv shows in New York and Chicago such as The Deltones and Baby Wants Candy, or the TV show Whose Line is it Anyway?

The inspiration for each Cheap Trills show comes from words of suggestion taken from audience members at the beginning of each show. In a recent show, the audience provided daily gripes such as being stuck in traffic and waiting in line, and watched as they were woven into a beautiful and hilarious a capella all-male madrigal — or MANdrigal.

Because there is no way to predict what an audience member might suggest, the show can be about any subject from sibling rivalry to space aliens.

Tickets are $10-14 and available via Ticketweb at www.JustTheFunny.com/tix.
