 Natalie Brown, Meredith Mills, Peggy Hudson, Sheri Shoup The Junior League of Miami took to Doral’s “Blue Monster’ golf course October 2 for its sixth annual golf tournament fundraiser at Doral Golf Resort & Spa, raising approximately $35,000 the League’scommunity projects, focused on the homeless, family violence victims, early childhood education, childrens’ and womens’ health and foster care.
“This is a signature event and a huge success for JLM,” said Lauren Hunt, JLM Golf Tournament Co-Chair. “The tournament featured 128 golfers and through their generous donations, along with charitable sponsor contributions, we were able to surpass our fundraising expectations.” Following the tournament, players and guests celebrated at a festive awards ceremony, silent auction and reception with beverages courtesy of Republic National Distributing Company and Rums of Puerto Rico. The first place foursome of Bill Starks, Gene Extjedt, Mark McComiskey and David Lamn was awarded a round of golf on ‘the Blue’ which has played host to prestigious PGA Tour events for the past 45 years, along with merchandise from the famed course pro shop. Other prizes were awarded for second and third place, closest to the pin, longest drive and lowest scoring JLM members. “We had an overwhelming response from both players and sponsors and I want to thank everyone for their continued support of JLM,” said Erin Knight, President of JLM. “With their help, we were able to enjoy a day on the course while raising a significant amount of funds for our community projects.” Founded in 1926, JLM is an organization of approximately 1,000 members dedicated to empowering Miami’s women, children, and families. The mission of JLM is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
