New Homestead City Hall Topping-Out Ceremony-MCM [dropcap]T[/dropcap]he New Homestead City Hall Topping-Out ceremony was held on February 4th, 2015. In attendance were several MCM representatives including, Alexis Leal, Joe Fernandez, and Eddie Martinez, as well as the Homestead City Hall Project Team of Mike Roblin (PM), Sergio Tapia (Superintendent), Michael Verwey (PE), Davion Mori (PE), John Jackson (Structural Foreman), and Jason Goltzman (Safety). Also in attendance were two representatives from Rodriguez & Quiroga, Architects Raul Rodriguez and Ivan Bibas.

The City of Homestead was also well represented by Mayor Jeff Porter, Vice Mayor Steven Shelley, and City Council Members Patricia Fairclough and Judy Waldman.

During the Topping Out ceremony Gabriel Garcia from The University of South Florida’s Safety Consultation Program was present to award MCM’s Homestead City Hall Project with the Sunshine State Safety Award, an award only issued to 30 projects within the State each year out of approximately 1000 applicants.

It was a festive day with a luncheon dedicated to the employees and a presentation celebrating the hard work and attention to safety that the site crew and managers have observed during the course of this project. To date MCM is approximately two months ahead of schedule with zero lost time accidents. Many congratulations were handed out by all speakers with a focus on MCM’s commitment to employing as many Homestead citizens as possible during the course of construction which will also feature an upcoming Internship at MCM for a Management Student attending Miami Dade College’s Homestead Campus.”
